Keynote Arty Trost
Better Together: Leadership for Creating Vital Inclusive Communities

Keynote speaker Arty Trost has been working with leaders in rural communities for over 20 years. In her keynote, Ms. Trost will focus on what community leaders can do to build and sustain vital, inclusive communities through both bonding and bridging networks. Robert Putnam, an internationally renowned social scientist, refers to two types of linkages in communities: bonding networks and bridging networks. Bonding networks link people who are similar in crucial respects; bridging networks encompass people who are so diverse that they usually do not see their common interests. Bridging networks are essential in our increasingly diverse communities, yet they are the kind that are hardest to build. Ms. Trost will share stories, research, and resources to increase your leadership impact.
